Naming Ceremonies

superman baby

The name is Kent - Clark Kent

We all know the importance to us of our own name and how it identifies us to the wider world. A ceremony to celebrate the naming of a new baby is a significant event that is traditionally celebrated by the family and wider community.

As church attendance declines, fewer parents are choosing to have a church based Christening service to formally name their child. Naming ceremonies however, enable the parents, family, friends and wider community to come together to welcome the child into their midst, celebrate their naming and make their promises to love and care for the child.

A naming ceremony that has the child and its parents as the focus of the ceremony is a very joyful event and can be celebrated anywhere. Parents often choose to hold the ceremony outside - by a lake or stream or in a woodland or garden; or you may feel happier in your local village hall or a room in a stately home - the choice is yours.

You can choose to include whatever you like in the ceremony in the way of music, explanations of how the name was chosen, readings, your promises to your child, involvement of supporting adults etc. We can also suggest special touches that make the ceremony even more special such as tree planting, time capsule, bubble blowing etc.

We will guide and help you plan and design your perfect naming ceremony and we will deliver it in the location and at a time of your choosing. Please use our contact page in the first instance and we will get back in touch to explore your ideas and provide a no obligation quotation.
